The Fox Cities Ice Dogs, an amateur elite men's hockey team, was established in 2003 when they joined the Great Lakes Hockey League.  The GLHL has been providing fast paced, high energy hockey since 1937 and is the only adult men's full check league in the United States.  In the team's thirteen year history they have captured several league championships and one National Championship in the Elite Amateur Division.

Many of the Ice Dogs players were born and raised in the Fox Cities playing for local high schools before going on to play at colleges like UW Madison, UW Steven's Point, UW Eau Claire, St. Norbert's University, Lawrence University, and Marion University.  Other players found the league after their career path brought them to the Fox Cities. The team offers players a chance to continue playing competitive hockey at an elite level.

The Ice Dogs are supported by the not for profit booster club that is run entirely by volunteers.  Its the volunteers that truly make each game an experience for fans to remember.  From the fundraising and spot lighting local charities to the intermission events, the action on and around the ice never stops.  Our operating expenses are met by sponsorships from local businesses (see our sponsors page) fan attendance, apparel sales and adult beverage sales.  

The Ice Dogs play an average of 26 games each year from October to April culminating in an end of year tournament for the Don Kohlman Cup.  During the regular season half of the games are played at home, The Appleton Family Ice Center, and the other half are played on the road spanning from southern Wisconsin to the tip of Upper Michigan.  The majority of games are played on Friday and Saturday nights offering great family entertainment for all ages.
